We are very proud to support Willowburn Hospice, each year, by carol singing at our local Matalan Store. Pupils from Key Stage 2 are always well received and many of our loyal families come along to support us. Many of our families have been touched by the care and dedication of Willowburn staff so we continue to support them when we are able to.
The Consett Festival 2015
Pupils from our Art Club we’re delighted to support this year’s festival by painting one of the boards that formed the entrance display. Fifteen local schools took part and the results were very impressive!
Youth Mission Team
Pupils from our school attend the YMT annual festival for Year 6, with schools from across the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. The school has recently supported fundraising for the YMT residential base in Allensford, selling raffle tickets. Unfortunately none of us won the first prize of meeting Ant and Dec in the flesh but we tried!
School Sports Partnership
Pupils regularly link up with other schools in our Catholic and geographical clusters as part of our St. Bede’s family and through Leisureworks. Pupils have attended multi skills festivals, dance workshops and festivals, football tournaments, fun runs and tag rugby competitions with other local schools. Our school has two service level agreements with St Bede’s School and Leisureworks to ensure these strong community links are maintained. We also attend an annual swimming gala with other local schools.

Mini Vinnies
Our Mini Vinnies continue their work in the community. They have raised money for local charities, international disasters and have reached out to local senior citizens with cards and letters. Their recent work collecting food for the local food bank was a great success. Please contact school to speak to our Mini Vinnies about their work.
Football Friday
Staff and children at St Pius Xth RCVA Primary wore football shirts on Friday 14th November 2014, to raise money for Millennium Stars Anti-Ebola Project in Liberia. Millennium Stars can no longer play football because of Ebola.
During the campaign the team intends to ‘Reach Out’ to those in dire needs of food and anti-Ebola materials such as Chlorine, buckets, Dettol, soap etc.
They will also continue to raise awareness of how people can prevent the spread of the virus and keep themselves safe.
Dance Walk
Pupil took part in a Dance Walk in Newcastle to celebrate our work with Durham County Council’s Walk Once a Week Campaign. Take a look at our photographs!
